This park has someone of the highest densities of elephants in Tanzania, and its sparse vegetation dotted with baobab and acacia trees make it a beautifully unique landscape. The park owes its name to the perennial Tarangire River and photographic opportunities abound when the many mammals of the park make their way to the water to drink. You may be lucky enough to encounter a herd of elephants frolicking in the mud and coating themselves to protect their skin from the sun, or giraffes reaching high into the acacia trees for a feed. You will enjoy dinner and overnight accommodation at the luxurious Oliver Camp.

In the early morning, we will depart for the spectacular  Ngorongoro Crater. The rich pasture and permanent water of the Crater floor supports a resident population of an estimated 25,000 mammals; you are sure to be overwhelmed by the abundance of wildlife that exists within the crater at any one time.

You are likely to see large herds of wildebeest, buffalo, zebra and Thompson gazelle. There are also large numbers of lion and spotted hyena resident in the crater. The dense forest on the slopes and rim of the crater provides shelter for elephants and the endangered black rhino. At dawn, the endangered black rhino returns to the thick cover of the crater forests after grazing on dew-laden grass in the morning mist. Ascend the crater in the early afternoon to enjoy sun-downers at the charmingly relaxed Ngorongoro Serena Lodge.
